Campinas (rodoviaria)
Campinas is a city located in the State of Sao Paulo, about 100km North West of the capital city, Sao Paulo. It is a city of approximately 1 million people inside the city limits and 2.2 million in the Greater Campinas Area, which is made up of 19 smaller cities.
Campinas (Cam-pee-nas), which means “Meadow,” in Portuguese, is most well known for its economy and industrial sector. Campinas is home to many national and international Brazilian headquarters. The industries include Technology, Automotive, Pharmaceutical, Petrol, Agricultural and many more. Some of these companies are GM, Toyota, Dell, IBM, Petrobras, Merck and the list goes on. Also, The University of Campinas (Unicamp) is ranked second in Brazil, after the University of Sao Paulo (USP).
Most people traveling to Campinas are commuting to and from Sao Paulo or are going there for business. The short ride on the Bandeirantes Highway lasts a little over an hour. The connecting bus stations are Tiete, in Sao Paulo, and Terminal Multimodal de Campinas, in Campinas.
The plentiful jobs in Campinas lend to a nice lifestyle for its inhabitants. There are great restaurants, a charming night life, and more theater houses than one would expect in a town of its size. For exercise, one can enjoy any of the numerous parks or take a walk by the lake, “Lagoa do Taquaral.” Campinas is basically a nice place to work, live and play.

Some destinations only have routes to one bus station and others more than one station. Depending on where you will stay in the city, it can make a difference in time and price if you have a choice in bus stations. Here is a brief summary of each station:
Terminal Multimodal de Ramos de Azevedo – Campinas Bus Station
When speaking to a Portuguese speaker you can just say: Rodoviaria Campinas or
(Hodo-vee-are-ee-ah Cam-pee-nas)
The bus station in Campinas can be referred to as Rodoviaria Campinas. The official name however, is Terminal Multimodal Ramos de Azevedo. There are over 45 different bus companies running busses out of 40 arrival and departure platforms. This new complex has all of the amenities of a modern bus station; stores, restaurants, showers, lockers, ATM machines, internet access, taxi service, and a high level of security.
