When you think about going to Brazil, you most probably think of visiting at least one beach during your stay. You do not have to spend the whole day there if you are not fond of sunbathing and swimming. However, drinking a beer in the beach bar is recommended. There is nothing more relaxing than listening to the sound of the ocean with a beer in your hand, don’t you think? Eating a cold acai bowl is even better. You have to try it, don’t forget, ok?
Now, what beaches do we recommend visiting? Below you will find a description of the 5 best beaches in our opinion. We love all of them and would like you to visit them and share the love as well.Â
Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro
You may be surprised that we have chosen Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro and not the most popular beach in the world – Copacabana. In our opinion, this beach is a bit overrated. Ipanema, on the other hand, is much more intimate and photogenic. The Travel Channel considered it the sexiest beach in the world. There is even a song that you could listen to while spending time on this beach – ‘The girl from Ipanema’ – we are sure you have heard it before.
- Jericoacoara, the coast of Jijoca de Jericoacoara, Ceará
It will appeal to lovers of secluded beaches and wild nature. The landscape prevailing in this place is truly desertic. It is on the list of the best beaches in the world, but still remains a small fishing village, which hardly appears on the covers of travel magazines. The whole area has become a National Park, so Brazilians cannot cover it with concrete and roads. If you are looking for a really unique place, you definitely have to visit this beach. Now it is easy to reach as there is an airport, which was opened in 2017.Â
Praia da Pipa (Pipa Beach), municipality of Tibau do Sul
The waters here are full of dolphins and turtles, so this might be a thing that will encourage you to visit this amazing place. If you want to try surfing or you are a professional surfer, this is a place for you. This charming spot surrounded by cliffs will take your breath away. There is also a lot of hostels and hotels in the area to choose from. It is situated near Natal, so you can visit the city as well.Â
- Itamambuca, Ubatuba
You will find this beach in Ubatuba city. You can reach the city by bus from Rio de Janeiro (5 hours trip). Book the tickets online on Brazil Bus Travel website . If you want to spend a few days there, we recommend renting a house near the beach. Remember that this surf destination is only alive during the day – there is nothing to do there during the night. Don’t worry though, you will be too tired to do anything after your surf lessons. We recommend taking a few classes of surfing in Zecão surf school. Situated in Mata atlantica rainforest, it is full of beautiful plants, trees and birds. You can even spot some turtles there.Â
- Praia de Itacarezinho, Bahia
This perfect beach with palm trees and white soft sand is situated 15 km south of Itacaré city, in the Bahia state. It is a great place to have a long walk as the beach is 3,5 km long. While being in Bahia, you cannot forget to try Acarajé, Muqueca or Bobó de Camarão. Just write those names down and order them while being there – you won’t regret it.
